THE REVERT 17
Brian woke up and found himself lying down on the floor. ' What happened to me? Why Ami I here?' He tried to move himself but he couldn't. Something invisible was pressing him down on the floor. The more he tried to move, the more he was pressed down. For the first time in his adult life, Brian felt helpless. His strength and his cunning mind didn't help. He looked around, no one else in the room. He put his head down on the floor. ' There is no point of fighting, he told himself.' Suddenly, he heard the door opened up. Brian is trying to look at the face of the person who just entered but he couldn't except the white dress he wore. Fear ran down his spine. Then he heard the voice, " He faced the toughest of the enemies without any weapon, he was the bravest of all." Brian's sleep broke right away. He woke up drenched in sweat. But still remembers those words. ' Who faced the toughest of enemies without any weapon?' he muttered.
--------
Ruby is enjoying Glory's company a lot. Their day starts as usual, then they talk and go out. Strange thing is, Ruby was able to forget her past. Actually, it's wrong. No one can forget their past, they just ignore it for some time. Glory was the person who helped her to ignore it for a while. Glory is a very social girl. There's not a single gathering in the base that she hasn't attended. So it was just a matter of time that everyone else noticed Ruby. Ruby didn't care at first. She was very easy with them. She even made new friends. But few days later, they started asking "the question, " How are you two related?" This was a question, nine of them knew the answer of. How would they explain that their friendship turned into sisterhood almost immediately. How would they explain that the difference in religion and race was nothing to them. Ruby still remembers the day when she told Glory about her past, she hugged her tight and promised her to support her anyway she can. That was really unexpected for Ruby. Her own family who are supposed to share the same belief left her while someone with a different belief is supporting her. It's strange how Allah sends help, Ruby thought.
-"What are you thinking?" Glory said getting down the stairs.
- " Who told you to come downstairs? You are supposed to be resting." Ruby questioned instead.
-" Relax, still two months left until my due date."
-" You are taking it too lightly, glory. You should take care of yourself."
-" Nope, you are here to take care of me. I have nothing to worry. You are the sister I never had." Glory put her head on Ruby's shoulder.
-" Did Parker call?" Ruby asked with a smile.
-" Yes, he did and I told him not to worry. I already got his replacement."
- Ruby laughed. " You can't replace a husband honey! I am sure when your labor starts, you will be screaming for your husband."
- Glory sat straight and held Ruby's hands. " Promise me something. if anything happens to me, you will take care of my baby. I don't have anyone else in this world. Parker is away most of the time. I can't think of a better person than you."
-" Please don't talk like that. You will be fine. I am not the best person to raise a baby, trust me! Moreover, I can't raise your baby in Christian belief."
-" I didn't ask you to raise the baby as Christian. Raise the baby as a Muslim. Please promise me that! I know Parker will agree with me as well. He thinks so highly of you. Please promise me!" tear welled in Glory's eyes.
-" As you wish!" They both hugged each other with silent tears.
