THE REVERT 12

 - "Where is Ruby uncle?" Saba asked Mahad Nasr. 

- " She was sitting here few minutes ago. She should be around somewhere." Mahad Nasr looked around the living room.

- "Ruby is upstairs, packing up." Shirin replied from dining sipping her tea.

- "Alright, I'll get her." Saba ran upstairs.

- "What are doing here like an old lady? Everyone is in the sunroom enjoying, come!" Saba said with a soft tone.

- " I am packing as you can see." Ruby replied even though she felt like saying, ' I am an old lady and I like to stay that way.' 

- "Please come! It will be fun. You might even think differently about us." Saba insisted.

- Putting the bag away Ruby replied, "As you wish! But only for few minutes." She started putting her niqab back on.

- " You don't need to wear that. It's just us." 

- " That's the reason I am wearing it. It's just you guys." Ruby replied in a cold tone.

Ruby came to the sunroom and sat in the corner. She didn't feel comfortable joining everyone else there. Rocky, out of nowhere, started talking about hijab and covering up. 

-" This is the single part I hate the most in Islam. They want to control women by covering them up and keeping them in the house. They don't even think women are even human. Ridiculous!" Rocky took a sip of the wine while looking at Ruby.

- Saba added, "You are absolutely right! If I would be covered up as some extremist people, I wouldn't have the opportunities as I have today. I can't imagine living my life covered up from head to toe. Not to mention, letting a man have the complete control of my life."

Gilman moved a bit in his chair with this reply.

Saba suddenly went in front of Ruby, " Ruby, dear! Please don't be stubborn. I can't see you like this. Everyone is going forward in their life and you are going backward. Don't you see that it's ruining your life, taking all the bright opportunities away from you. You are even younger than me, please take this off. Make today the fresh new begining.", Saying it Saba pulled Ruby's niqab to take it off. 

Ruby grabbed Saba's hand right away to stop her. " Don't do this!" Ruby replied with a stern voice. 

Rocky got up and approached them, " Saba is right. Take this stupid piece of cloth off. I had enough of your drama. We have been trying for past few months to persuade you, you ignored us completely! Now you have to put an end to this shit. Saba, don't let her stop you. Take it off! I'll support you."

Saba tried to pull it off again. Ruby grabbed her hand harder than before, " Don't test my patience! My brother doesn't have conscience, I know that. I didn't know that you have lost your one as well. Stop it!" 

May be it was because of all the wine she drank, Saba really lost her conscience. She pushed Ruby toward the corner table. " I'll take this off today no matter what you say. I absolutely hate this. You have been ruining my party since the day you came with this attire. Even Gilman had to get embarrassed because of you. I ain't letting this go."

Ruby looked around the room for a second, three men are right there enjoying this show. But no one is trying to stop it. She put her hand in the back trying to find something on the corner table. She felt a vase and picked it up. 

On the other side of the room, Brian leaned close to Gilman, " Stop your fiancee or else she might not be able to see the sunshine tomorrow."

Gilman gave a questioned look.

Brian continued, " Ruby got a brass vase."

Gilman got up to stop Saba but she dropped unconscious before that.

 Gilman pulled Brian to the side. - What's going on boss?  - What do you mean? Brian replied pretending to be surprised. -  "Dont play that game with me. I know you too well by now. I saw you roaming around Saba's cousin past few hours. If I am not mistaking, you were having a talk with her. What is it about?" -" I was just curious about her. She is quite interesting and smart. Now please excuse me!" Brian took a sip of the wine and left. Gilman stood there for a good minute or two. He still can't believe his ears.' Some woman sounds interesting to Brian! It gotta be very bad.' Gilman thought. 'Should I call for help. Damn! I don't want this in my engagement party.' May's s sleep broke with the morning Ray hitting her face. She raised her hand to cover her face from the sun's glare. Took a few minutes to realize that she is sleeping on the floor. After tahajjud and morning prayer, she didn't feel like going to bed. The mind became heavier than the body could bear.
