THE REVERT 15

 Ruby never thought that she would ever be questioned like this by her own family. The trust and love that ever existed is gone the minute she changed the direction of her life. Is it really that hard to accept Ruby the way she is? She wonders but can't figure out an answer. Right now, her whole family is standing against her and questioning her entire entity. But this strange man is standing between her and her family. As if he wants to guard her somehow. Why is he doing that? Doesn't he know that he is making things harder for Ruby? 

-" Which part of my behavior you want me to explain?" Brian asked Mahad Nasr.

- After a brief pause, " Why did you tie up my son? What is his fault?"Mahad asked. For a strange reason, the confidence in his voice disappeared.

- " Wow! You are really one of a kind Mr Nasr. You couldn't see anything wrong with you son hitting your daughter with a crow bar. You actually surprised me. I used to think that I am the worst person that ever existed."

-" You... Pinned my son to the ground, punched him. The bruises are still on his face!" At this point, Mahad started crying. " My only son. He is the only one I can rely on. It's Ruby's fault. If she wouldn't have changed herself then everything would have been different. My niece would still be alive."

-" I am speechless!" Brian shook his head. " I never thought that I would ever meet people whose heads are filled up with so much shit!"

Brian turned around toward Ruby, " Let them go. I think you are better off without them. They will make your life more miserable than it already is."

- " He is right Ruby! Stay here with him. No one will know ever know your truth. Bonus is, you don't have to find excuse to sleep with him." Rocky couldn't finish his words that Brian dragged him holding the collar of his shirt. 

-" You really don't know how to keep your mouth shut. If I really wanted to sleep with your sister, I wouldn't look for an excuse. Cowards like you, looks for one."

- "Then tell me, why are always trying to protect her? Don't tell me that it was your duty as a good citizen. You have done more than that."

Brian kept quiet. He didn't even know why he behaved like that.

-Rocky pushed him off. " I thought so. There is a big difference between being religious and dress religious. My sister only dresses like one. We might not be religious but we don't need a person like her in our life." Rocky grinned,' I know you would never sleep with any man regardless. But I needed to get you out of the family for my own future.'. Mahad Nasr and his family left.

Ruby's whole life turned upside down in a matter of days. Now she is standing on a point where she doesn't have anyone in her life. She doesn't have anyone to go to. The parents who have birth to her, also left her. ' Why did they need to show such affection all these years that they didn't even think twice before throwing her out of their lives?' she asks herself. No reply comes. ' What should I do now? Should I cry or just stay quiet!'. Still no reply. Ruby looked at her herself. Only things she is left with are her backpack and her car. Nothing else. 

 Seeing Ruby looking at her own hands, Brian asked

-" What's your plan? Where are you gonna go?"

-" I don't know." It's very hard to tell whether Ruby is sad or angry. Her voice was devoid of any sort of emotion.

-" Do you have any other relatives who can let you stay with them?" Brian sounded worried.

-" what do you think? My family left me and my relatives will support me!" Ruby laughed. " Anyway, thanks for your concern. I'll figure something out inshallah."

-"Where are you gonna stay? In the car? For a woman like you, you know how hard that is!"

Ruby didn't find it necessary to reply and picked up the backpack and started walking toward the door."Thanks for everything guys. I really appreciate it."

Parker and Steve both nodded. 

-" Will you marry me?"

Ruby stopped. Both Parker and Steve turned toward Brian. Their jaws almost dropped, couldn't believe their ears.

-" You know the answer, I can't." Ruby replied without turning around.

- " Yes, I know. What if I accept your religion, then there's no problem right?"

- Ruby turned around. " Of course, there is a problem. You will become Muslim to marry me only, not to follow it. Let's put that whole religion thing aside for a minute. Tell me why do you want to marry me? I am nothing special. We don't even have the similar ethnic background. You are white and I am brown. You met me only a few days ago. We never talked, you know nothing about me."

- After a brief pause, " Alright, I fell in love with your personality. "

- " You are kidding me, right? Men like you rarely fall in love and you want me to believe that you fell in love with my personality. Cut the crap please! I had enough of it already as you know."

- Brian grinned! " Okay, you win. You are the first woman that looks mysterious, I mean interesting! I can't get you off of my head. May be talking to you would have helped but you are not going to talk to an unknown man. You are the first person who was able to analyze me within few minutes. I am impressed! Ironically, I can't do the same as you are covered head to toe. To be able to analyze you, I have to marry you. See my reasons? Now will you marry me?"

- " No, I am sorry. Most likely you will divorce me once you are done analyzing. I want to marry a Muslim man who values the religion. Someone who is strong in their faith. I don't care what he does or what type of job he has. You don't match."

Ruby turned toward the door again. 

-" How about you stay with one of my friend's wife while he is away?" Brian asked while checking something on his phone. " We are gonna be out for next few months. Parker's wife will be by herself, you can stay with her if you like." Brian looked at Parker.

- " Please stay at my place. My wife is pregnant and none of my family members are around. If you stay with her, I'll be worry free for some time. It's a request." Parker said.

- " I don't want to burden you. Whatever you guys have done, I can never thank you enough for it. I can't take anymore favors." Ruby replied.

- " I am asking a favor from you. Please don't say no!" Parker said.

- After a minute or so, " Alright, I'll stay with her."

- " I'll text you my address. You can go there straight. Her name is Glory."

- " What the heck is going on? How did you become so desperate for one woman? You kicked me out of my own house!" Parker said while leaving Gilman's house.

- " Nothing is going on. She needs a place to stay and we have a mission to accomplish. Duty call!" Brian gestured toward the phone.
