THE REVERT 2

Abdullah's sleep broke as soon as the azaan called in. It's early but Abdullah prefers this hour of the day. Everything is nice and quiet. He can even hear his own breathing. Refreshing mountain air wakes up the body and soul.
"Can't imagine a better place to live in the whole world." Abdullah told himself.
- "Hurry up, you are getting late for the masjid. We have a long day ahead of us." Abdullah's wife Amina said.
----------
- "Is it really necessary to do the things you are doing?" Amina said while serving tea to Abdullah.

- " I am not doing anything wrong. I am just doing my duty as a Muslim. Most youth in our locality are getting far far away from the religion. If my single effort can bring them back together then it's worth it."

-"I understand but people are spreading rumours that you joined some extremist militant groups. I am worried that this rumour will cost us dearly."

-" Rumours are rumours. The people who knows me they know that I am never going to do such thing. You know the real problem is, we don't try to understand our religion. We only adhere to whatever we are being told by our elders. We don't want to take the extra effort to learn ourselves. As a result, culture and superstitions are being mixed. It's getting harder day by day to differentiate between the two. Some people are utilizing this lack of knowledge to fulfill their own interest. The end result is, we are suffering as a nation."

-"I hope you are right. You can't trust anyone now a days."

-"That's not totally true. Some people are really open about it. Other day, I met this man named Brian at Ali's house. He is working for some humanitarian organization. He is a great guy. I like the way he pays attention. I can see the thirst for knowledge in his eyes. I know he is not Muslim but he has great appreciation for this religion. Just like  his colleagues. I have high hopes. In Sha Allah"

-"In Sha Allah"

------------

- " 30 minutes left before the azaan, what do we have?" Brian said putting his legs on the table.

-"Not much. Abdullah, 35. Lives with his wife in one of the mountain huts at the North edge. Farmer by profession. No affiliation with any kind of militant group, very religious, trying to get the youth together to have some sort of study group. In one word, harmless!" Gilman took a sip of the water right in front him.

-"What do you say, Parker?"

-" Well, this guy doesn't sound or look suspicious. I don't see any reason to hold him or his family."

-"Anyone else who thinks Abdullah might be dangerous... Steve?"

-" Nope, harmless."

- "Did you guys really do your homework before coming here or just wasted the time playing video games? Why am I always stuck with bunch of idiots who can't get their head out of 'call of duty'!

After a brief pause..

We'll do what Mongols did when they invaded Baghdad. Gear up!"

To be continued....
