THE REVERT 20

 Lying down on the bed, Glory looked at the doctors around her. They are running around and talking to each other in a low voice. No one needs to tell her what's going on with her. She can feel it, every inch of her body can feel what is going to happen. She grabbed the doctor's hand who was standing right next to her, " I have something to say." She tried as loud as she could but her voice sounded like a mumble. The doctor leaned toward her.

-" Do you want to say something?"

- " My baby!" Glory replied. Trying to catch a bit more of the oxygen in the mask.

- " She is alright in the nursery, don't worry!" 

- " If something happens to me..."  Glory catched her breath, " I want my friend to take care of my baby. I don't have any other family members who can care for her." 

-" Please don't worry about it right now. You will be fine."

A smile appeared in Glory's face. All the sudden, she started feeling extremely sleepy. The sleep she hasn't slept in past few weeks. Glory closed her eyes. The doctors yelled, "Crash cart"

Ruby is still staring at the baby girl she brought in with her. The nurses are taking care of the baby in the nursery but still Ruby can't leave. She felt an unexplainable motherly feelings toward the baby. Suddenly Ruby realized that she hasn't checked on Glory in the past hour or so. She smiled to herself. ' We gonna have a serious fight between us once we get home. Is the baby going to call her aunty or something else?' Ruby thought while walking toward the emergency where she left Glory.

-" We tried everything we could but some things are never in our hands." said the woman with white coat.

Ruby looked at her but couldn't see her clearly just heard the words. The tear kept rolling down. 

-" Your friend wanted you to take care of the baby. Are you willing to do that? We can let the authorities know."

-" Yes, I will as best as I can." 

Ruby went to the nursery where the baby was sleeping. Upon her request, the nurse let her hold the baby. The tiny ebony hands and the puffy cheeks touched her heart faster than she realized. Ruby started sobbing hugging the baby, she became a mother. Glory left her with the gift of a motherhood. Ruby wonders whether her mother felt the same when she was born.

Brian is walking back and forth in his room for the past hour. He noticed the phone calls as soon as he turned on his cellphone. He kept calling Ruby back but no one is picking up. ' Is everytime alright with them?' Brian thought. He didn't get a chance to check on Glory or Ruby after he got back. He called Ruby's number for one last time and then picked up keys to drive to their house. Something doesn't feel right! 

Brian started knocking the door of Parker's house. No one opened. He walked around the house to see if anyone is there but no movements. He hesitated for a minute then broke the window to get into the House. He went through the rooms, no one is there. As soon as he got to the master bedroom, he saw the bloodied bedsheet and both of their phones next to it. Brian realized that there was an emergency so he rushed to the nearest hospital.

The hospital employees informed Brian about the demise of Glory. He asked, 

-" What about the baby and the veiled woman who came with her?"

- " I don't know. Let me find out." The employee replied.

"Both of them are in the nursery. Take the elevator on the left and hit the second floor button."

Brian noticed the corner of the black flowy garment while Ruby was sitting on the chair feeding the baby. 

-" I went to the house to look for you guys."

-" I called you but you didn't pick up." Ruby replied while looking away.

-" I was out. I am sorry."

-" Can you arrange the funeral and everything for Glory?" Ruby asked still looking away.

-" I'll take care of it. Do you need anything else?" 

-" I am really tired and still wearing the same bloodied clothes since morning. Can you get a fresh pair from my room? They are not going to release the baby until tomorrow." Ruby lowered her head. This is the first time she has asked an unknown man to get the clothes for her. She doesn't have any other option, she can't leave the responsibility that glory has left her with. She hugged the baby!

 -" You are leaving? I just got here." said Zakaria amazed. -" Yes, we have been waiting for past hour and a half. I left Tarek with mom. I gotta go back." May picked her wallet.  Gilman pulled Brian to the side. - What's going on boss?  - What do you mean? Brian replied pretending to be surprised. -  "Dont play that game with me. I know you too well by now. I saw you roaming around Saba's cousin past few hours. If I am not mistaking, you were having a talk with her. What is it about?" -" I was just curious about her. She is quite interesting and smart.
